ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I am a 73-year-old performance artist based in Glasgow and Bute. Within my practice I work collaboratively, collectively and individually. My main focus is on the visibility of older women, in what is, in part, an attempt to claim agency for the over-70s. My methodology includes the collaborative process: primarily intergenerational and queer friendships. My solo work often involves artistic personas (Silver Swimmer, Art Scrubber, Bus Pass, Pearl Compost and Constance Spry, all of whom are pictured below) performed in different contexts and environments: public spaces, galleries, domestically, in cabaret and within the landscape. Activism is as important as aesthetics. My practice exists under the overall banner of 'NOT DEAD YET’.
